WAKSS: Behind BREAKNECK’s First Kanjo-Inspired Livery Project

There’s more to cars than just meets and shows. It’s about real roads, real people, and the stories behind every build.

When we decided to take on a new project, we knew it had to honor the spirit of car culture in a way that represents the scene, its roots, and the people.

That’s what drew us to the Kanjo culture — the raw, underground racing scene that had been alive in Osaka, Japan a decade ago, where racers used to push their Civics to the limit on the “Kanjo Loop” with only speed, loyalty, and the thrill of illegally speeding through the city streets fuelling them.

It’s that same spirit that inspired WAKSS, BREAKNECK’s very first livery project — a Honda Civic EG built by the scene.

A project like this doesn’t come together overnight — and not without the right team. Big thanks to the sponsors who helped bring WAKSS to life:

TireOne Motors Corp.
Nitrofuze Garage
Eight Decals
Kireina Films Philippines
Complex Carbon

Owned by Joaquin Mateo Aquino of SouthSide.24, this EG hatchback isn’t built to race — it’s built to represent. When we finally saw it on May 15, we knew it was something special. From the stance to the livery, every detail nods to Japan’s racing roots while staying true to our streets and scene.
